The Forth Road Bridge can be affected by high winds from time to time. Radio bulletins, road signs and websites give details of which vehicles are restricted from crossing the bridge.
If the bridge is closed to 'High Sided Vehicles,' bus services to and from Ferrytoll will operate as normal as this restriction only affects double-decker buses. Few double-deckers are used across the bridge and Stagecoach will ensure single-deckers are used when the 'High Sided Vehicles' restriction is in operation.
On rare occasions, the bridge may only be open to cars or be closed completely. In such situations, buses to and from Ferrytoll will be severely affected.
If the Forth Road Bridge is closed to buses, Services X2, X50, X57 & X61 will divert via the Kincardine Bridge. Service M90 will divert via Stirling (omitting Fife). Services X54, X58, X59, X60 & 747 will terminate at Ferrytoll. Services 53 & 55 will divert from Ferrytoll via Kincardine Bridge and Edinburgh Airport to Edinburgh, with extra buses during peak hours. Passengers between Gogarburn and Riccarton (on route 747) will have a special shuttle service to the Airport for connection with diverted services 53 & 55.
For up to the minute information on how services will be operating during periods of high wind, call the Ferrytoll Supervisor on (01383) 420197 or visit the FETA website or Traffic Scotland websites.
