Ferrytoll Park & Ride is 10 years old in November 2010. It's hard to believe that it has been quite so long since it opened in 2000 and there have been quite a few changes in that time...

Ferrytoll Park & Ride celebrated its 10th birthday in November 2010, with an event in its newly-renovated waiting room.
Representatives from Fife Council and Stagecoach in Fife were in attendance viewing the new look facility, which has continued to increase in popularity since it was opened in November 2000.

The £25,000 refurbishment has refreshed the décor of the Park & Ride and updated the information displayed throughout the facility, making it even easier for first-time users to ditch the car and use greener transportation.
Cllr.Tony Martin, Chair of the Environment, Enterprise & Transportation Committee, commented: “Ferrytoll is an excellent example of how we’re working to create more sustainable transport choices for the people of Fife. One of Fife Council’s big priorities is to make Fife the leading green council in Scotland, and this facility is another step on the way to us achieving this.”

When Ferrytoll first opened in 2000, Stagecoach operated 7 morning peak arrivals in Edinburgh City Centre before 9am. Today there are 28, as well as regular departures to Edinburgh airport and some of the city’s business and technology centres.
Bob McLellan, Fife Council’s Head of Transportation Services, said: “Ferrytoll has been a great success story. The number of parking spaces was doubled to over 1,000 in 2006 to meet the demand, and four years on we’re consistently at 80-90% capacity. We’ve just completed another refurbishment and have received confirmation from the Scottish Government’s 2011/12 budget that funding is to commence for a new Park & Choose facility to support the new Forth Crossing.”
Charlie Mullen, Managing Director, Stagecoach East Scotland added: "Stagecoach were delighted to contribute to the refurbishment of Ferrytoll Park and Ride, demonstrating again our commitment to partnership working with Fife Council. The facility is integral to our operations in Fife, with the majority of our express services passing through during their journey and departures to Edinburgh city centre up to every 5-10 minutes during the day.”
Ferrytoll offers customers a wide range of travel options with an average of 20,000 passengers using the facility each month.
